Playlist November 17 - 23

The big release of the season...

  1. Madonna - Confessions on a Dancefloor: A roaring return to clubland after the dismal "American Life". While I can't really see ALL of the tracks getting the party started without some additional DJ magic, they are nonetheless great tunes. The standout track for me is "Jump", which is classic Madonna!
  2. Fort Minor - Believe Me: I never liked Linkin Park much, but this track from their MC Mike Shinoda's side project is pretty good. Is he related to this guy?
  3. Mattafix - Passer By: Can you imagine Blind Melon with a hip-hop beat? This is what this cool song sounds like.
  4. Burt Bacharach - Go Ask Shakespeare: A soundtrack for walking alone down a dark, rainy street in London or New York after breaking up with your lover. Vocals by Rufus Wainwright just add to the melancholy.
  5. Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band - L.I.P.S.T.I.C.K.: You would never expect these goons to put out such a sexy, sophisticated song.

As the 80's revival continues in Dubai, showing no sign of slowing down with so many Brit expats living there, The Human League are playing there tonight. So my classic pick for this week is Love Action (I Believe in Love).

I have a couple of friends flying over from kwuait for a night on AirArabia just to attend the concert, have a "night out" in town and back the next morning.

nb: thank you for your kind note on my blog :)
