Saddam's Minister of Information, Mohamed Saeed Al-Sahaf is strangely becoming a folk figure here in Kuwait. People are glued to their TV sets, waiting to see what outrageous stories he'll come up with and have developed a strange affection for him. He looks more terrified as the end of Saddam draws near, yet he soldiers on with his hysterical press conferences. It's pure black comedy!

I suspect he doesn't believe a word he's saying anymore than we do and is probably up at the podium with a rifle aimed at his head from behind the scenes. One of the big fat microphones in front of him looks set to explode in his face if he strays from the script. This is one official whom I truly wish could survive this war, for no other reason than just to hear what he has to say when it's all over.
