Al-Watan officially stopped its campaign with a silly announcment...like our mission is over and now its in the hand of Allah!!
I'm extremly worried now that the whole thing was YET another show from the Govt to please our American and Western friends, and to have as many photos of adorable Kuwaitis expressing thier demands freely shown on the BBC and CNN sites.
I got that feeling yesterday when the Govt did NOT even request a date for the commitee to finisih its report. So this can take months if ever.
Everything wil be back to normal now, women can keep hoping, the Americans will be less pissed now. The Govt got more ass kissing from Liberals and Al-Sa3doon than they ever wished for.
I'm sure it has something to do with it one way or another, because Al-Jassem was behind the whole campaign and his last few columns he wrote against Tabtaba'ai and Abo Ramiah were explosive to say the least.
I think Jr is going to rebuild the burned bridges with the Islamists again, and this time AL-Tabtaba'ai will have a full page and not just a column. Allah yaster
Btw
Both Al-saqer and saba7 Al-A7mad complained to Al-Kherafi yesterday on how he kicked out the women righst supporters. Man I'm telling you I have followed so many sessions where religious supporters were throwing 3eqel in the air and dancing like Jasem ya3qoob scored a hatrick or something, and Mr Alj-Kherafi would just use his hammer to make them quite and warns them in a shy polite way. And even when fist fights broke out he would just point at the persons who are causing trouble and ask the police to take them out, I never seen him looking this pissed in my life and the way he replied to Al-Saqer when Al-saqer tried to complain, I saw flames shooting out of his eyes and two horns growing and the famous hammer turned into a long fork.
If Al-Jassem resigned because of what he wrote about Bu Ramia and Tabtabai, then we can kiss the (relatively) free press goodbye..
About Khrafi (satan?), I'll never forget his face when they voted against the women's vote in 1999. At the very least, he could've PRETENDED to show some remorse or that it was out of his hands for whatever reason. But the way he voiced his objection in sheer visible disgust... well, that was pretty disgusting in itself!
One rally is not enough, even if you think it was just for show.
Now is the time that women's groups and women's rights supporters have to unite and plan the next steps while the ball is still within sight.
Now is the time it should gather momentum. Sure there is alot of hidden politics in the matter but it doesn't mean that there shouldn't be an awareness campaign going on at the same time to create an agenda that the majority of women in this country can identify with
I'm with Jewaira on this one, now is the worst time to slow down or disappear..it is when the topic is still on the scene and when people can have the hardest crash if you don't keep hope and activism going..Already it seems people seem to be losing the zing they should be feeling, as shewrites tells us (and N, by the way..c'mon give us some of the insider info you have, we won't tell) If Zaydoun and Bu Jaij are right that this is just a show, then turn the tables on them and their political game-playing and show them who's really in charge, the people. Let's keep it fun and informative and lets keep united for a cause that will benefit us all. There are meetings and groups we can all join, and we can make sure that everyone knows about them (i'd like that)I feel pretty good, even if there weren't enough people, even if people feel deflated, even if we got unceremoniously booted outta there, at least we got off our butts and spent a day out together...here's to more progress and to learning from our experience .
I have to agree with jewaira, nothing comes easy, and although I have lost hope so many times before, but all what went on was expected to some degree, the rally this time raised my hopes and I?m still exited, more campaigns and rallies are yet to come, and every move brings us one step closer, how long do you think this game would go on? It has to stop one day One bonus from the chaos was to uncover the faces and this is a good education for women voters of the future, no matter how far that is. The song ? al7amd liman gadar khiran wa jamala? still replaying in my ears? making me feel optimistic.
I feel young!!!

Yeah Bo Jaij.. I found that rather abrupt and puzzling too. Does it coincide with Al-Jassem's resignation from his post as editor-in-chief?

ReplyDeletePSS.. don't apologize! That's the spirit and temper that this cause needs!
ReplyDeleteBounlagerie..
ReplyDeleteNo thanks needed, it was the least I could do.
But what do we disagree on? I honestly can't remember
