Now What?

  4. nicely said... in my humble opinion, i believe that MOI's in all nations should be deleted from existence. We have witnessed in Iraq, in Lebanon, in Syria, and now in Kuwait that they have no purpose. These ministries only suck up money and accomplish absolutely nothing.

again... it's just my humble opinion

Yo're right.. Advanced nations around the world don't have ministries of information.

  8. Nicely said..and I think if you want to brand something Zaydoun..How bout the Dustoor? The way the constitution is part of American culture (however little some of their own leaders follow it)..at least creating a sense of attatchment to the Dustoor is better than the empty slogans they choose to dust off everytime there is an upheaval. They are too afraid to teach it properly in school, lets turn the tables on them and make it part of everything.
Shurouq, I like what you said but I don't know if anyone who took the position of PM wouldn't end up being a servile, brown-nosing sycophant everytime someone special made an appearance.. It's gotta be done though..I agree..the best person for the job, full stop. Not the best person from a certain family of a certain gender etc..etc..

  10. the diwan al amiri (Sheikh saad) has released an "order" to all locals newspapers not to release any congratulation ad for the "new" amir until NEXT monday no matter who becomes amir.

    i sniff some family drama

  11. I don't think they need an order for that. The country is in state of mourning till the end February when the 40 days following the demise of the Amir are over.

  14. Rampurple & Zaydoun,

Anas Al-Rshaid joined the cabinet with an agenda, his main goal was to 'eliminate' the MOI.

    Link

But now, after what we saw in this crisis...

    I think Al-Rshaid should either:
1-Put his terms to join the new cabinet (if he were chosen).

    or

    2-Resign.

Eliminate my #@$%!! It's falling apart on its own from its sheer incompetence!

In advanced countries, careers are built and reputations are sealed based on the quality of coverage of major news events (see David Frost, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather et al)..

Even though all our TV news anchors have the charisma of a bullfrog, this could've been Dr. Anas Al-Rshaid's time to shine with up-to-the-minute coverage and detailed analysis instead of the fiasco we got instead.

It was his chance to seal his reputation forever, and he blew it!
