Oh My GoD! Zed,
ReplyDeleteWouldja believe it if I told you, the exact same thing happened with me in Arraya Mall downtown, last weekend? My vision was molested by these two gymming youths of unclear nationality, who had on them sweat shirts declaring - 'I used to be an atheist till I discovered I was God'.
Now look what you've done with this entry - got me really upset over the whole thing. I should have decided there and then, to boycott the Mall where I'd first laid eyes on them or at least, to have boycotted what they were wearing; sweat shirts, if not the fabric actually.
Bo-hoo ho on a wasted opportunity for me!

ib9ara7a shay ifashil. over estimating our powers is what got most of muslim countries into trouble in the first place.
ReplyDeletethe cartoons are troubling they are racist and yes they are provocative bas lo fi umkum 7'air chan 6alla3taw 3a6'alatkum 3ala isreal mo iddanimark.

ReplyDeletezinzin, magiltlikom we over estimate our power
ReplyDeleteIt's really depressing...did you see footage of the poor imam getting shoved and pushed as he was trying to calm the mob and stop them from attacking the barricades...what Islam do they think they are defending with violence and vigilantism? It's just the frustration of the weak and the marginal...the blame falls on every side...mobs don't just turn up out of a void, and they aren't born that way...and when did the Prophet become an idol to be so worshipped? All his insistnce on not turning him into a God has gone to waste..we have Catholicised our religion..all that is left is for someone to preach the trinity..walla 3aib u 7aram.
ReplyDeleteGarga, scary indeed..but so are some other parties who won in more 'established' democracies...
ReplyDeleteThe problem might be that when we say democracy here it's as though it only means votes and maybe parties...Democracy is a way of life..it's a culture..you practice democracy in every institution and through a developed civil society..unfortunately all we get (and all anyone wants us to get)is half-assed democracy..Very few societies on this planet really practice democracy..even when so many beat their chests and say they are 'democratic'(and even when they pretend to shove it down other coutries' throats)..
I really wonder when and how this region is going to pick up the pieces and really do something right..Allah yastir..
Very out of hand..
