Playlist May 11 - 17

دوائر? I need a break to regain my energy, so here's this week's playlist:
  1. Gnarls Barkley - Who Cares?: I tried so hard to like their smash hit Crazy, but I just couldn't see what the big deal was. This 70's style number is far superior.
  2. Primal Scream - Country Girl: Every few years, the Screamers abandon their experimental albums and come out with an old-fashioned rock smash. Here's the 2006 model and a "white trash" video to go with it.
  3. Snow Patrol - Make This Go On Forever: Gospel choirs are usually brought in to add joy and an uplifting feel to most songs, but in this heartbreaking track from the new album they sound like they all feel the same pain.
  4. The Raconteurs - Steady As She Goes: The White Stripes' Jack White teams up with Brendan Benson to form a new band. This is their first single and it's fab!
  5. Spice - Big Blue Sky: Catchy and upbeat... maybe it'll drive away the clouds and dust and bring back our blue sky. I miss it!!

This week's oldie is a slinky 70's R&B track from the late Edwin Starr, with a sleazy "blaxploitation movie" vibe, no surprise since it comes from the soundtrack of a movie called Hell Up In Harlem. It's called Easin' In .. about a very shifty character who's just rolled into town.. sounds like several people we know!!

He's dangerous sly and shifty, if he should happen to write your name down,
Don't you try to fly outta town!

Ya see, He's slick, and he can't be tricked, He ain't never made a mark, he could not hit. OW!
Easin' in. Slick as he can he's easin in, ..Easin' in
