Kuwait does Asia

The Prime Minister and a large assortment of ministers, businessmen, hangers-on and flunkies are on a tour of China, Hong Kong, Korea and Japan (Singapore too?), a long-overdue trip aimed at strengthening economic and political ties to those countries.

Here's a choice quote from Sheikh Mohamed Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah: "Corruption in Hong Kong is very low and we should learn from that".

I just can't comment any further..

  1. I like the use of the word assortment, bel3arbee taskheela, same thing you ask for when you go to a bakery or sweets store. It is even large, so that must be something else, more like super-size assortment.

As far as corruption in hong kong, it is not low, or high, it is as corrupt as any other country, depends on who you talk to.

The trip is sure over-due because there was large chances to invest and co-operate but many have already been taken by major countries.

I hope they do not throw their cig. butts in the street in Singapore, otherwise they will be caned.

  2. Actually, there's a practise I'd like to see imported here.. Caning all the filthy assholes who toss their cigarettes, soda cans and fast food wrappers out of their car windows!

  3. Enough with sheikh what's-his-name, please.. He's been going around saying crap about this and that someone should ask him to shut up already.
Why does our leadership insist on polishing them bad apples, while the decent guys (Sabahs or others) stay in the shadow?

I don't have a Tabboula recipe, Pinksuedeshoes. It's just that I was at the office craving tabboula this morning. (It has to have 'rumman' though.. yummy!- what's rumman in english? pomegranate?)

Zaydoun, are you watching City of God?

  4. That worked because you are a good looking woman, if I went and did the same thing, he would shove it in my face.

  5. I ended up watching "Bend it like Beckham" because I had a long day and wanted something lightweight... As for the caning, I tried the polite route a few times and more often than not the guys (its always guys!) told me to mind my own $%^&#@ business! So yeah, I'm pretty pissed at them!!

  6. hi there .... well well .. it just happens that i have a thing or to to add about Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah's comments ....
From "inside" information ... I KNOW that the reason we were "forced" to see or read his comments in an "answer" to the article posted in Al-Tali3a newspaper before the trip .. when it said (and I am quoting lossly) "why the hell are you taking him with you"
so the poor guy had to do something .. say somthing .. and show that he was actually doing somthing during the visit ...
I mean dont get me wrong .. i know the guy .. he is a nice guy .. friendly ... but being a politician is a different issue .. beside .. remember his post is "ministerial"
