Read a book. It's good for you!

A light-hearted article in Al-Qabas on the joys of reading a good book. It even laments how some Kuwaitis smirk at anyone lost in the pages of a gripping novel or anything that could enrich the mind and soul, beyond the inanities of daily life.

I have a stack of books on my shelf that I stare at everyday, racked with guilt for not having made time to read them. I need to get away to some place quiet and just read and read and read...

Maybe that's what I'll do on my next vacation.

  1. I agree with you, books are great. I spend more money on books than dvds with Amazon. The truth is I dont have time to sit down and watch a movie. A book I can read anytime, stop and be able to pick up where I left of and take it with me anywhere.

    Good book I've recently read.
Book of Illusions by Paul Auster I love the way he writes, he really captures emotions and has you questioning how are we remebered after death.

  5. I have been a fan of paulo coelho for a long time... when i used to start reading one of his books, i wouldnt be able on letting it down. sometime, in june or may, i bought a book by him. Figured i could read at the beach, at night when i am bored, etc... like what i always used to do. i still havent completed the book... actually, i havent finished the first chapter even... i have read the first couple of pages a zillion times!!!

i miss sinking into a book, getting so involved that i forget the world around me.

  6. Aah the South.... I've always been fascinated with the Deep South ever since I visited a real plantation in South Carolina and then went on to Charleston. "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" sealed my fascination will all things Southern.

Having one of my best friends hail from South Carolina helped too..
