  2. Allaaa.. nice topic
I had all the teenage fun from the age 12 ? 14, then Saddam came along and ruined the rest of it (well.. kinda).. At 13 I had my first boyfriend. No mobiles back then and no internet, so you had to have a phone in your room if you wanted to "communicate". Of course I can't remember that guy's face now but he must've been a nice dude hehehe. I was even busted once or twice but it was never taken seriously.. (when I ask my mom or my brother about it now they say it wasn't a big deal since I was an A student - so here's a tip for all you teenagers out there.. get straight A's and you can get away with almost anything). and uh.. talk about bonding with friends.. we always moved in groups for some weird reason. We would throw our girls-only dance parties.. talk about boys and moms.. and bake cake! We didn't go out much.. There was no where to go to.. no shopping malls, no movie theatres. I guess it was a little bit boring being a teenager in Kuwait. Going to the beach was (and still is) fun though..
Then came the depressing postliberation years. I started high school and didn't have much fun till college. College was ok.. did some crazy stuff (no regrets).

Zaydoun, what did you get us into?

  5. My teenage years:
Hummmmmmmm ?. Nothing but study, study, study during the week, on weekend's chalet with all the control of the family members, and again had 2 take books and study. Summers? Again summer school and study? or travel with family.. and more control. Sleeping over is totally forbidden. At 16 I went to the USA with no control what so ever, it scared the hell out of me so I hook up with a guy and got married so I can properly enjoy my life. Then came children, responsibilities "we elathi mino"
So ur asken about my teenage years? Honey.. I'm having it right now at my --'s only maturely ;)
It's not the age that matters its how u feel about it and deal with it

  6. My teenage years were a blast and I'm still friends with many of the people from that time. High School was public (not some chichi foreign school!) and it was a mix of good academics and out of control mischief. I ran with a crazy bunch of A-students in school, who were also the most mischievous out of control students the school had ever seen. We had chair fights in class! And like Shurooq said, because they were A-students, they got away with everything. I was hardly an A-student myself but I enjoyed the association with the cool crowd.

My life outside of school was another scene altogether. As I recall, it was fun too, and I don't remember being bored for long periods of time. So yeah, I think my teen years were OK... but then most of them are a blur..

  7. Rabab, married at 16? I was still fighting with boys back then.

Zaydoun, surely you remember more than that? No truth or dare?

I think parental control is essential in these tender years, but there is no way to control everything. I remember a lot of my friends were up to very bad things (guess on your own), but the exposure was good for me because when i went off to college i was not mesmerized by a false glamour of these (very bad) things.

  8. Oh and one more thing I forgot to add.. I got deep into religion .. not because of family influence? far from that.. I guess because it was just a trend back then.
