This is truly alarming!

  1. I read about the Bahraini blogger arrested on Mahmood's den.. Alarming indeed!

But you have nothing to worry about.. If you get arrested (god forbid), we'll be demonstrating on Gulf Road, carrying orange 'blogger' flags, demanding your release, and WiFi everywhere.

    Welcome home, Zaydoun

  5. Welcome back Zaydoun.

I don't know if this Bahraini guy was trying to get caught or what. His identity and address are in the public domain. A simple WHOIS search will uncover him in a heartbeat. I did one on his domain and this is what I got:

    Admin ID:C26142194-RCOM
    Admin Name:Ali Abdulemam Al Bahrani
    Admin Organization:Bahrainonline
    Admin Street1:P.O.Box 3042
    Admin Street2:
    Admin Street3:
    Admin City:Manama
    Admin State/Province:bh
    Admin Postal Code:99999
    Admin Country:BH
    Admin Phone:+973.9611080
    Admin Phone Ext.:
    Admin FAX:+973.9000000
    ________

If I can do it in 5 seconds, I am sure the Bahraini authorities can do it in less. The lesson here is:

"If the domain is registered under your name, your identity is exposed, so be careful what you write there. You CAN be held "liable."

  6. yeah jambino , but when you first register the domain you have to use a real name , then you can change it later , i did that

    and zaydon شكلك بتمشكلنا :)

  7. So what if his identity is exposed? The issue here is the Bahraini government's intolerance for criticism... My identity is no secret and I don't really care what happens to me

But if I'm going down, I'm dragging y'all with me!!!

  8. 1. What was the Bahraini Blogger writing that got him arrested?

  9. Sheba... Abu Hafs is blocked at work!

  10. Oh oh, zaydoun do you think your administrator spys on your PC?

    ReplyDelete
  11. No.. I think they must have seen Abu Hafs and were offended ;-)

  12. I don't like that. Very 1984. Along with all thats been happening (arresting of gay looking people, and idiotic arguments against women's rights).

  13. So, you think it likely Kuwait will do a Bahrain anytime soon?

And what to say, of Bahrain's winning accolades from the world's media for being economically the most liberal country in the Middle East with a fledgling democracy; voting rights for women and the works!
For Bahrainis, today, there's no point resting on past laurels: freedom of expression and civil liberties there have done an about-face.

And arresting gay looking people....crikey, is that for real?
It is news to me you could actually get arrested here for appearing to be having a criminally good time - no wonder a constipated, forlorn look is `so this season'in a strip mall near where I live.
