I think I would not be out of line if I said their track record is not very encouraging.. I have every reason to be skeptical.. Maybe you're being too optimistic.

In any case, I am hoping it will pass and women get the vote, but if it doesn't I will not be surprised

  7. Alkhurafi is another government puppet that it?ll use in emergency cases. And I?m sure you did not miss Ahmad Saba7 Alsalem?s half page article in AlQabas, wed. issue, I wonder how a guy like him would argue the fact of a family ruling an Islamic state, would he go down to the little details referencing Quran and 7adeath?

  9. Almishkila ba3ad inna ma fey we7da bel jam3eyat alnesa'eya 3indena bel alkuwait...they need to be together for once to voice their opinion and fight for our rights! I still find the women in Kuwait are not fighting hard enough for the political rights! until that day comes AlKhrafi o rab3a beshakekon eb emkaneyatna!

  12. It really riles me up to even see a quote like that since it is so obviously contradictory. A 'right' is an entitlement, something you are owed by virtue of your existence. If there is such a thing as women's rights, which his quote suggests, then there should be no possibility of denying those rights, since they should exist with her existence. That we are still being denied the same political choices that even the most ignorant, uneducated, prejudiced Kuwaiti man gets is so frustrating and idiotic that I really wonder how we don't spend the whole day laughing bitterly at the situation.

  13. funky white shirt ..

    u better clarify now .. am i a disgrace to u ?
my response would be : Do I know u ?
am I a disgrace to the kuwaiti society ?
the answer is : Thank God it wasn't u who issued my citizenship .
    am I a disgrace to women ?
my response would definitly be : why so , smarty ? .. did i give u the impression that I'm some looser can't move a step without ur likes' permission ? ...

neither u nor whoever would dare call me as such ..

and try next time to get a better choice of vocabulary rather than accusing others with such unspeakable repulsive manners .

  17. Mushmushi reminded me of a conversation I had a long time ago with a Saudi Arabian girl at University in the US. We were debating why women were not allowed to drive in S.A.
Although she did not wear hijab, and was not obviously religious, and studying medicine, she was very adamant in her viewpoint that women should NOT drive.

The point is that when women hear the same ideas over and over by backward men, they find themselves believing in their own incompetence.

Btw Zaydoun, I admire you for your constant attention to the issue of women's rights. I like your attitude. And I think that was a well-written post.
