I just saw the ROC ad.... strange how Hijab made the model look younger and prettier( using M7amad Al-3awathy tactics to sneak in Religious mombo jumbo )
I flipped when I saw this version of the ad a while back. Its not everywhere though maybe in Kaifan Co-op and in some other fanatic-owned pharmacies. 3ayal mashifto the veiled doll with black 3abaya from top to bottom...hathi sidj unmissable
Don't get me wrong I'm not against the idea of Hijab, I have total respect for those who wear it. Its their personal right just as it is my right to go unveiled. I respect their decision as long as they respect mine. The problem here is that the model herself doesn't even know that she's been covered up by some advertising agency here in Kuwait as a tool to promite the product for that category of people. Some of the ads she's unveiled and in others she is.
so don't think the muslim women have the right to chose wether they want to wear the veil or not ! coz they must wear it ! its like the 5 players we have no right nor excuse to not pray ! its almost the same thing
Returning to the main issue here (the ad) I dont think its ethical to graphically manipulate a photo and make it look like the model is a mit7ajba when in real life she's not. Imagine Cindy Crawford im7ajbeenha?? Matid7'al ilmokh. That was my whole point. Ba3dain whether hijab is far6' or ijtihad that's not the issue here. Again I stress my respect for those who are veiled bas 3ad u can't impose your beleifs 3ala al3'air and vice versa. That is the essence of TOLERENCE: accepting the beliefs of others.
"bas 3ad u can't impose your beleifs 3ala al3'air and vice versa"
entai mo'3air ,,, we're the same ! we're both muslims el7imdilla =)
" '3air" when it comes to someone from another religion ya3ny this is totally different situation. b3deen after all this is between You and ALLA , i just wanted to make my point clear in here (3ashan abarree themetee)
Zaydoun: sorry brother ,3afasna ur bloG w 9ar dars denee ;p
I agree with sheba 7ijab is not a pillar, and if people wish to (mis)interpret it as such then they should keep it to themselves without preaching it to others.
ok so i dont really think that anyone would check this post by now ! but am gonna write this anyway ! it seems that everyone has became a mufti all in a sudden !
women back in prophet mohammed's days(prayers upon him) used to wear something that is very similar to the one that the (nuns) wear ! it is true that the "veil" has a history even before islam but they didn't use to cover their necks and some other parts ! some women used to wear it even before islam anyways in sorat al nour every thing mentioned in it is (farth), am going to quote from Quran ! so no one would come and yetfalsaf foQ rasii
"In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
[1] A Sura which We have sent down and which We have ORDAINED: in it have We sent down Clear Signs, in order that ye may receive admonition."
"سورةأنزلناها وفرضناها"
"[31] And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss."
one more thing ! if u (any unveiled women or anyone who doesnt "want" to belive in the veil) dont want to wear the veil thats ur business but dont come and try to distort religious (PILLARS)because u just don't like it the way it is !
mother courage.... MUSLIM women shuold wear the hijab... I was never aware that Julia Roberts was muslim... so why should she be forced to having wear it ( even though its only an ad)? But the whole concept of it... simply annoying!
hehe havent thought that someone would read my last comment on this subject! btw this is n0t julia roberts. anyways i wasnt discussing the ad as much as "wether the veil is a pillar of islam or not". back to the ad issue, am sure that they had the premission to do wut they did from Rock themselves so wether u like the ad or not that's a matter of taste ! some people just like it this way ;)

The struggle to put up churches.
Is it time to leave?
Oh & i don't have much time to go thru all the comments, BUT I MUST ADD that 7ijab is NOT a pillar of Islam!
ReplyDeleteI agree with sheba 7ijab is not a pillar, and if people wish to (mis)interpret it as such then they should keep it to themselves without preaching it to others.
