  8. zaydoun thank god you wrote about this cuz i was fuming believing that kuwait has turned into a police state. They went knocking on the doors of beauty salons in residential areas and travel agencies and all other small businesses threatening their employees. POeple are working on deadlines. these businesses did not plan on having three days off who will compensate them when they lose money and business because they couldnt meet their deadlines. It against the law!! The Amir would be flipping in his grave if he only knew what's happenineg. I'm just dying to know who ordered this kind of action!!

The travel agent we deal with at work was forced to shut down and when they resumed duty today all the seats on the flight we want for our upcoming business trip were gone!

  10. KASCO (Kuwait Aviation Services Company)
KASCO was formed in 1981 and started its flight activities in 1983. KASCO's other activities in Kuwait include :

Safir Airport Hotel 200 beds 4 Star.

    Franchise for COSTA COFFEE.

Dar Al-Shifa Hospital, Patient and staff catering.

KASCO's Flight Kitchen for 17 International Airlines.

    KASCO Gourmet outside catering

I don't think that closing private shops shows that we are sad! ya3ni can't we get some coffee because we are sad!

i totally disagree with this kind of approach, oo ba3dain the GOV didn't say anything about closing the PRIVATE shops, ili yabee eroo7 khal eroo7 wilii mayabii layrou7..!

  12. Costa is owned by KASCO, who's been to Costa will see the Kuwait Airways signs in the coffee shop, thats why it was open and not starbucks, cuz of the competition...

Anyways, I do think it was soooo 3AIB that some of the private sectors were working...I dont think that 3 days will get them in bankruptcy, yani come on plzzzz for God sakes...

Travel agencies I can understand that, but beauty saloons??? whatever..

And some of the companies, how can they get their work done when there's no banks open??
At least who has work, I mean like REAL ACTUAL work, thats life saving can go, but for a buck?? Three days isnt much, and for those who have "deadlines", do they have "deadlines" everyday?? That means he/she isnt getting the work done in the first place to have stacked up "deadlines" in those 3 particular days...they can go at least one of these 3 days if that deadline has 2 be done.

I think most just make excuses to get that "FILS", which most of them are already millionares...like costa, HELLO?? they r so greedy i think.

    Great blog...
God bless us all and bless this country, and may the Amir rest in peace...
    I ADORE KUWAIT!!!

  16. I got a part-time job there like, a year ago. I remember the Kuwaiti guy who hired us was such an arse. He'd insist on speaking to you in English, despite the fact that his English sounds more like Urdu. I still have his number somewhere, and reading your post, I'm slightly tempted to call and give him hell.

And yes, they're owned by KASCO and that same arse always bragged about it all the time, and was trying to convince us during the whole three months why Costa Coffee is much better than Starbucks. To me, instant coffee would do. But hey -back to the main subject- you're right, they should have some respect and close their branches as expected from any company with an iota of dignity...

  18. mayat 3ala beauty salons it was just an example of how we have turned into a police state. The main people who suffered are those who have to meet deadlines and if they dont they will have to pay THOUSANDS OF DINARS in fines for being late. Do you think that their deadlines will be pushed for three days. I DONT THINK SO. for some companies every working hour counts unlike lazy ministry work.
ba3dain sorrow and sadness is felt in the heart you dont have to stay at home and not work to express your loyalty and love to the coutnry and amir.

  19. A3sab,
I sort of agree with what you said, about deadlines and stuff, but don't you think it's a little impolite for .. say, a place like Costa Coffee or let's say any other place to which people go have fun .. don't you think it's sort of impolite for such a place to be open during mourning days?
You are so correct about not having to stay home to express your sorrow. It's in the heart as you said. My dad is completely against going to this maseera thing today. He says do something good for him, stay home & read him some qor2an and he'll appreciate it more than going out on the street carrying his picture. He sort of left me speechless - more of fear of him - though it'd still like to go. So what were we saying..?
Pretend that what I just said makes perfect sense.. thank you!

Sorry, Zaydoun, for turning your blog into a forum :-)
